Merge customers
Merging customers in Fincome lets you bring together several records representing the same company or the same customer account.
This feature is particularly useful if:
- duplicates were created when importing data (via files or API),
- the same customer appears under different names or identifiers,
- a synchronization generated several entities for the same customer (for example a Stripe import and a manual import).
Thanks to merging, you can:
- avoid double counting of MRR or recognized revenue,
- standardize your analyses and exports,
- keep a complete, consolidated history on a single customer record.
Steps to merge two customers
- Access the customer list From the side menu, click Data → Customers. This tab shows the complete list of your customers, whether synced from your billing integrations or imported manually.
- Search for the customer to merge Use the search bar at the top of the page to find the customer whose record needs to be merged. You can search by name or identifier.
- Open the actions menu Hover over the relevant customer's row. A ⋮ button (three small dots) appears to the right of the Edit button. Click it to display the menu of available options.
- Select "Merge entity" In the dropdown menu, click Merge entity. A window opens: it lets you indicate the customer with which you want to group the selected record.
- Enter the target customer In the provided field, enter the name or ID of the customer you want to merge into. Fincome will automatically suggest the matches found.
- Validate the merge Click Save to confirm. The merge is then immediate: invoices, subscriptions, and metrics are transferred to the main customer.
It is not yet possible to manually choose which customer is kept during a merge. Fincome automatically determines the main customer based on the date of the last issued invoice.
If you want all the data to be grouped under a particular customer:
- Merge the two entities normally.
- Then go to the record of the kept customer (the one with the latest invoice).
- Rename it with the name of the customer under which you want to centralize all the data.
Unmerging a customer
If you merged by mistake or want to return to the initial state, you can unmerge a customer directly from the same menu.
- Go to Data → Customers.
- Hover over the relevant customer.
- Click the three small dots (⋮) then select Unmerge entity.
- Validate the action: Fincome automatically recreates the separate customer records, with their respective data.
The initially merged information is then reassigned to its original customers (invoices, subscriptions, MRR, etc.).
