Connect my Pennylane account

Prerequisites

Before starting, make sure that:

  • You are an administrator of the Pennylane account
  • Your API access is enabled (via an OAuth connection or access token)
  • You have an active Fincome account
  • You have access to the Customers, Products, Invoices, Credit notes, Subscriptions modules

Adding a Pennylane source to your Fincome dashboard

Not necessary if you already had the v1 API connected. In that case, simply replace the key with a new one on the already existing connection in Fincome. Go directly to the "Getting my Pennylane API key" section to create your new key.

Getting my Pennylane API key

To fill in this field, go to your Pennylane interface and click on the gear at the bottom left, which opens the "Settings" menu

Then click "Connectivity"

Click "Developers", a menu with your access token appears

Create a new key by clicking "Generate an API token", then checking the following items:

At the bottom of the page, don't forget to choose "unlimited" for the expiration date, and to check the box below.

Validate and copy the key

find Pennylane API key, settings in Pennylane interface, access Connectivity menu, open Developers menu, retrieve access token, copy API key, enter Fincome API key, MRR from Pennylane, invoice allocation dates, Subscriptions module for MRR, issue date as period start, frequency for period end, set periodicity in Plans, Data section, change one-off invoice to recurring.

You can now paste your API key into the "API key" field of the Fincome interface.

Bonus: How is your MRR calculated from your Pennylane data?

Case #1: you use allocation dates on your Pennylane invoices

In this case, these dates will be the ones used to take the MRR into account.

Case #2: you use the "Subscriptions" module

In this case, the invoice's issue date will be considered the subscription's period start date. The subscription frequency lets us determine the period end date.

Case #3: set the periodicity on the plans

You can set a plan's periodicity from the "Data" > "Plans" section

In all cases, you can edit an invoice line to convert it from "One-off" to "Recurring"
