Compare your performance to the previous year

Learn how to overlay your current data with the previous year's (Y-1) to measure your progress and identify the seasonality of your business.

Comparing your performance to the previous year is one of the simplest ways to measure your growth and spot seasonality effects. In Fincome, this comparison takes two clicks from any chart.

Steps

  1. Open the chart on which you want to perform the comparison.
  2. Click the Compare button located above the chart.
  3. Select Previous year.

Fincome then overlays the Y-1 data on your current curve, and displays the differences directly on the chart.

Reading the differences

The differences between your current period and the previous year are immediately readable:

  • As a percentage and in absolute value.
  • In green for an increase vs Y-1, in red for a decrease.

Example: a +10% increase compared to the previous year is displayed in green, along with the difference in value (+€50,000). A -5% decrease appears in red.

FAQ

On which metrics can I use this comparison?
The Previous year comparison is available on all Fincome charts (ARR, MRR, Churn, Net New ARR, etc.).

What happens if I don't have data for the previous year?
If your history does not cover the Y-1 period, the comparison will remain empty for the months concerned. This can happen for recent companies or metrics that were set up recently.
